Rock On〜

I haven't been maintaining my violin for a while... When you take a closer look, there are lots of dust and built up rosin stains...
Therefore, I took a trip to "Kurosawa Music shop" in Ikebukuro~
To clean my violin, i bought a small bottle of Varnish Cleaner, 2 Micro Fiber Cloths, and also bought 2 new black Fine Tuners. (For my A and E strings)
Rosin is a solid form of resin obtained from pines and some other plants, mostly conifers, produced by heating fresh liquid resin to vaporize the volatile liquid terpene components. It is semi-transparent and varies in colour from yellow to black.
Bowed string players rub cakes or blocks of rosin on their bow hair so it can grip the strings and make them speak. Extra substances such as beeswax, gold, silver, tin, or meteoric iron are sometimes added to the rosin to modify its stiction/friction properties, and (disputably) the tone it produces. Powdered rosin is often applied to new hair, for example with a felt pad or cloth, to reduce the time taken in getting sufficient rosin onto the hair. (Thanks Wiki~)
Each time you play the violin, it produces a white sticky powder. You are suppose to wipe or dust off all the powder when you finish playing the instrument.
But...I've been quite lazy....and all the powder rosin has become black and hard..and all over my violin..... (shame~~~)
The Varnish Cleaner I bought today is for Instrument use. It's very gentle to wood, especially very old instrument like mine~(192 years old~)
I polished it in a circular motion, bit by bit... like waxing my car... Got out the cotton buds and cleaned the little tight spaces~ and when I finished, I realised that I've been cleaning for 4 hours~
But its good to see the beautiful shine from the violin. The wood's natural colour is so beautiful.
My violin looks clean and happy too.
Sorry I've neglected you for so long~
I'll promise to clean you everyday!
Rock On~
