Rock On〜

I LOVE Matsuri Festivals!!
&
I LOVE Yukata!! LOL
Man, Azabu-juban Matsuri festival was so much fun!!
Haven't worn a yukata (Japanese traditional summer kimono) since
I was a child! (Picture on previous blog entry)
Azabu-Juban Matsuri starts at 3pm, but my friends and I decided to
meet up around 5pm at the festival. There were 8 of us all together~
I couldn't see anyone wearing Yukatas on the way from
my house to the station.
It was a Sunday too so there were lots of people around...
I was a little embarrassed wearing my yukata...
But when I got on the train, there were a few more people in yukatas.
As we got closer to Azabu-juban station, there were a lot more
people in yukatas. I was so relieved~ hehe
When we got to the station, there were LOTS of people wearing them!
Even a lot of guys AND a few foreigners in yukata too!
But there were LOTS of people... Too many people I must say...
It took us such a long time to get out of the station.
When we finally got out to the main street... the place was packed!
It was just people, people, people!!
I was so afraid that we were gonna have a hard time looking for
each other...
But it wasn't that difficult in the end~♪
Out of us 8, 5 of us wore yukatas! The rest of them either don't own
a yukata, or was too busy during the day to get changed.
We walked everythere and ate heaps!!
We had some Teriyaki grilled Squid, Yakitori chicken skews,
Takoyaki Octopus balls, some giant deep fried won tons,
and much more!!
In Japan, you can also drink in public, so all my mates were
drinking ice cold beer!!
Japanese festival foods ARE THE BEST!!
We all pretty much shared the food, but it's quite filling too...
But there are so much more to try!!
like Okonomi yaki pancakes, BBQ pork on skews, Fried noodles...
maybe next year!!
There's a fish in Japan called "AYU" (sweetfish,Plecoglossus altivelis)
My brother and I used to LOVE it when we were kids in Japan.
It's the nicest grilled fish EVER!!
They had them grilled with salt at the festival!
One of my friend bought one, and she took a picture with the
worker from the stall.
Then she joked to him and said "Can I have one more for free?"
The guy actually gave her another one for free!!! lol
What a good bloke!! Thank mate!! lol
I don't think we have AYU fish in Australia.
I had a few bites from my friend. It's been about 19 years
since my last Ayu fish...
It was sooooo good... I was touched.... haha
We walked, ate, drank and had a ball!!!
When we realised, it was already 9pm, festival's closing time.
We all followed the crowd back to the station and took
a group photo at the entrance.
After that the group split into two, "Going home" group
and "2nd round" group.
Of course I was in the 2nd round group!! lol
We rocked up to Shinjuku and headed into an Izakaya restaurant.
Everyone was complaining about how hot it was wearing the
yukatas, so everyone went to the bathroom and changed
out of their yukatas and into their normal clothes!
And I was stuck being the only one in yukata...
Well, I didn't mind at all~
We drank till the last train and went home.
When I got home, I didn't want to get out of my yukata.
I kinda like it! But I don't think there another chance
for me to wear my yukata this year...
Well, I guess I'll just have to wear it a lot next year!!
I LOVE Matsuri Festivals!!
&
I LOVE Yukata!!
wait... didn't I already say that? hehehe
