Golden Weekに曲作り。。。。。

Golden Weekですね〜
みんなはどっかに遊びに行く予定ですか？

オレは家で作曲です♪

オレの部屋はマンションの真ん中の部屋です。
同じ階に左右部屋があります。
でも最近気づいたんですけど、左右の部屋に誰も住んでません！

１階が入り口でオレは２階。て言う事は下、左、右誰もいません。
だから毎日いつバイオリン弾いても全然OK〜！w
爆音で音楽聞いても、映画をvolume upして見ても全然OK〜！

前は、近所迷惑だからなるべく朝から夕方までバイオリンを弾いて、夜は音が小さいエレキバイオリンで練習してました。
本当に最近ずっと楽器と一緒に過ごしてます〜♪嬉しいっす！w

この前「オレの階にはオレ以外誰も住んでないからバイオリン弾きまくりだよ〜」ってプロデューサーさんに言ったら「もしかしてカテイ君のマンションに変な事があったからみんな引っ越したんじゃない？」なんて冗談を言われました〜汗
いやいや、結構新しくてキレイなマンションですよ〜笑

今日も一日中パソコンとにらめっこして作曲してました〜
おかげで良い曲が出来たぞぉ〜♪
夜中でも全然弾いちゃってます！笑
みんなは楽器OKのマンションに住んでますか？

It's Golden Week in Japan.
Golden Week means that there are more than 7 days of public holiday
in a row. It happens once a year from end of April till early May.
Depending on your work, some people get 8 days off or even 16 days off!
(Due to the bad economy period)

Anyone going somewhere for a holiday?

I'm gonna stay at home and write songs♪

My apartment is the middle apartment on my floor.
There are apartments on each side of my room.
But recently I found out that there's no one living on my floor!

1st floor is the entrance, and I live on the 2nd floor.
Therefore, there's no one underneath me, left of me or right of me.
Which means that I can play my violin anytime I want~!! lol
I can listen to music real loud, and watch movies real loud too~

I used to practice during the daytime and keep quiet at night
coz I might disturb the neighbors .
But now I can play whenever I want!
Lately I've been practicing all day on my violin~ It feels so good!♪

I told my producer the other day that

"No one lives on my floor so I can practice whenever
I want without disturbing anyone~"

And my producer joked by saying

"Maybe something bad happened in your building
and everyone moved out!"

hahahahahaha~
No way~~
My apartment building is very new AND very clean too~ lol

I spent all day in front of my mac book composing songs~
Wrote a few awesome tunes~♪
As you can see, I'm still playing my violin at this hour of the night! lol
Do you all live in apartments where instruments are allowed?

メッチャ広っ！。。。。。

今朝スタジオノアで神田君とリハしてきました。
カウンターでスタジオの番号を聞いて、「どれぐらいのスタジオですか？」
って聞くと。。。

「２０畳です。」

ん？聞き間違えと思って、
「え？１０畳ですか？」ってもう一度聞いたら。。。
「いや、２０畳です。」

うっひゃ〜〜〜！！

２人だけのリハで２０畳のスタジオ〜〜なんて贅沢ぅ！！w
オレの部屋の３倍以上もある！しかもレコーディング用の
エンジニア個室もついてる！
広い場所でリハは気持ちいいね〜♪
１２日にやる新曲をリハったよ。いい感じ〜
是非聞きに来てくださいね♪
明日は大事な打ち合わせだ。
早く寝なきゃ〜

Had a rehearsal this morning with Guitarist Kanda-kun.
We asked the lady at the counter how big the studio was.
She answered "20 tatami size studio"
We thought we heard wrong so we asked again.
"10 tatami size studio you say?"
"Nope, 20 tatami size studio."
WOW~
20 tatami size is equivalent to 30.61 sq. meters!
That is huge for just the two of us!
Its about more than 3 times my room in Tokyo!!
It even had a private recording engineer's room!
But it feels so good to rehearse in a spacious room~

We rehearsed some new songs today for the gig on the 12th.
It's sounding pretty good~
Come and hear us play on the 12th♪
Anyhow, got a really important meeting tomorrow,
so I better head to bed~

タップダンス。。。。。

今日タップダンサーのSAROさんとコラボしてきました〜
初めて会うし、初めてダンサーとコラボだし、しかもタップ。
でも、いや〜　彼は素晴らしい！！めっちゃすごい！Rhythmがタイト！
スゴい楽しかったです！
明日は朝９時から神田君とスタジオでセッションです。
もう寝ないと！

Had my first collaboration today with tap dancer, SARO.
It's my first time collaborating with a dancer, especially
a tap dancer~
Man, he is really good!! His rhythms are real tight too!

I've got a jam session tomorrow morning at 9am with Kanda-kun.
Better go to sleep~

リハーサル。。。。。

今日はギタリスト神田君の家で打ち合わせ／セッションをしてきました〜
今回は５曲やって、中の２曲は新曲です！

明日はタップダンサーのSAROさんとコラボです。
タップダンサーとコラボは初めてなのでどんな感じに仕上がるか楽しみです〜♪

Had a rehearsal today with guitarist Kanda Tetsuya.
We jammed 5 tunes out of the 5, 2 tunes are new~

Tomorrow, I've got a session with SARO, the tap dancer.
I've never collaborated with a tap dancer before,
so I'm really excited to see what we can whip up!

ベランダでリハ。。。。。

久しぶりにブリスベンでライブします～
前一緒にバンドをやってたシンガー／ソングライターのBENと一緒にやります。
金曜日の夜、１８時半からです。今回は二人でアコースティックライブをする予定～

このライブはライブハウスじゃなくて、Cityにあるカフェでライブをするんだ。そこのカフェは２週間に１回アーティストをよんでお客さんたちを楽しませている。Benはそこのレギュラーです。前ラリアに戻ったときも１回Benと一緒にそこでライブをした。結構いい感じなところだよ～
特にラリアは、金曜日の夜は２１時までお店をOpenしてるんだ。
そんなの日本では全然珍しくないと思うけど、ラリアのお店は平日１７時ぐらいにClosedしてるからね。ある意味不便なんだ。だから金曜日はShopping Nightってこと。
人も多いし外食してる人も多いから今回のライブもいい感じかも～～♪

ってことでBenの家でリハーサルをしてきました～
日本でのリハーサルはスタジオでするけど、こっちは全然家でできる。
うちらなんかBenのベランダで４時間もリハして音楽をcreateしちゃったよ♪ｗ
夏だけど風が涼しかったし、マンションを通る人は音楽を聞きながらニコニコ笑ってるし♪

ラリアにいる人で金曜来れるならぜひ来てください！

場所は： Cityの　「Adelaide Street」　と 「Creek Street」　のかどにある
La Plaz Café Barです！(１８時半）

Got a gig this Friday~
I'm gigging with Ben from our old band "Paisley".
It's an acoustic gig with just two of us.
It's been a while since I last played with Ben.
But respect to him, everytime I'm back in town, he's got
a gig for me~ :)

The place we are gigging at isn't a Live music venue.
It's a small cafe in the city and they have regular live music
there on friday nights, and Ben is one of their regular musicians.
Friday nights are shopping nights in the city so hopefully
there will be lots of people around~

So yesterday we had a rehearsal for the gig.
In Japan, we had to rehearse in a studio all the time, but in
Australia, we can just rehearse in the house!
Ben and I were sitting outside on the veranda rehearsing
and jamming for about 4 hours or so?
It was GREAT! People walk past his street all bopping their heads
to the music~

If you are free and in town, please come check us out~
Ben will play his set from 4:30pm, and I'll join him from 6:30pm.

家のネットがまったくつながらなくなりました。。。涙

I'm at the agency now having a meeting.

弦は高い。。。。。

弦が切れてライブとかリハで困らないように今日弦をいっぱい買いました。
弦は高い。。。お金が。。。なくなる。。。涙
でも必要だからしかたない。。。

オレがVIPERに使ってる弦は↓
D'Addarioの「Helicore」です。
エレキバイオリンのレスポンスもいいしガットに近い感じです。
エフェクターとか使ってるからクリアな感じじゃないと困るからね〜
VIPERを作ったMark Woodさんもおすすめしてました〜♪
エレキバイオリンを弾いてる人も是非使ってみてください〜

お店にHelicoreのE StringがなかったからDOMINANTを購入。

Just in case my string breaks during a performance
or at a rehearsal, I went and bought some strings today.
...its so expensive...... my money~~ : (
but it's a "need", not a "want"...

Strings that I use for my VIPER↓
D'Addario's "Helicore"
It has great response with Electric violins.
Some what similar to gut strings.
I use quite a lot of effects with my Guitar Effects pedal , so I
need something that can give me a clear sound.
Even the maker of VIPER, Mark Wood, suggests using Helicore~♪
If you play electric violin, why not try them~

There weren't any Helicore E Strings at the store, so I bought DOMINANT.

What I bought today...

ただいまぁ〜。。。。。

リハしてきました〜♬
オレの１曲を練習して、神田さんの２曲ぐらいをジャムりました〜♪
今日は結構いい感じでした！
やっぱ神田さんのプレイは凄いわ〜

今日はVIPERをいっぱい使いました〜
VIPERだけの写真を撮ると結構大きく見えるけど、ギターと一緒に撮ると意外と小さいんだなぁ〜って思った。
でも出す音は負けないぞ！笑

ちなみに。。。また弦が切れちゃった。。。うううぅぅ。。

Just came home from rehearsal~♬
We rehearsed one of my song and Jammed on 2 of Tetsuya's songs~♪
It was a good rehearsal today!
Tetsuya's playing was awesome~

I used my VIPER a lot today.
When taking photos of just my VIPER, it looks quite big, but when you line
it up next to a guitar, it looks rather small~
But don't under estimate the sound that comes out of the VIPER~ hehe

oh, by the way, I broke another string today....*sigh*

３時間のリハだから今日はちょっとこまかく出来るかなって感じです。

前日アレンジャーさんからレコーディングする１曲を送って来ました。
マジでカッコいい！！！レコーディングが楽しみだぁ〜〜！！

I've got a rehearsal today with the guitarist Tetsuya Kanda.
It's a 3 hour rehearsal so I'm hoping we can get some detailed
work done today~

A few days ago, my arranger sent me one of the tracks for
recording. Man! It sound so cool!! I can't wait for the recording session!
Wait till you hear the final track!♬　 I'm so excited!!

Better get ready soon to head out~

削ってます。。。。。

VIPERの弦がなぜそんな簡単にボロボロになるか色々と調べました。
楽器を作ってくれたMARK WOODさんにも連絡しました。
彼が作った時、A-StringとE-Stringのフレットの部分を多少削ってます。
でもプレイヤーによって弾き方が違うから、彼からのアドバイスはゆっくり自分でフレットをもっと削る事。

削って３時間、まだまだ削ってます。
一度始めたらやめちゃ行けない作業。
でも初めて楽器にヤスリを使って削ってます。。。怖い。。。。
しかも大好きなVIPER。。。
でも生バイオリンは絶対無理！！！
そんなメンテナンスはプロにお任せです！



VIPER持って行ったらきっと「何じゃこりゃ！？」ってなりそう。。。笑

今夜は「朝まで練習〜」じゃなくて「朝まで削り〜」。。。。はぁ。。。

I think I figured out why my strings keeps on breaking on
my VIPER... I did some research.
When Mark Wood made my instrument, the frets on the
A-String and E-String were sanded down, so that you can
still gliss up and down the string, just like a fretless violin.
But everyone play differently and has their own style, so
his advice was that I should sand it down, even till the
finger board.

I've been carefully sanding for 3 hours now.. Still going...
Once you start sanding, you can't stop half way.
If you stop half way, it will affect the contact between
the string and the frets.
But man, it's my first time sanding my instrument...
It's a scary feeling.....
But I'd never dream of doing this to my acoustic violin!!
I'll leave that to the professionals~
If i brought in the Viper to a violin shop, they will be like
"WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?!" hahaha

I won't be practicing till dawn, but I'll be sanding till dawn...*sigh*
